How to Invest in Yourself like a Pro?

Investing in yourself means you value yourself and know your self-worth. You know that you are capable of a lot of things so you decide to spend time learning, growing, and creating value. When you invest in yourself, you can become a happier and better version of yourself.
So go invest your time and money to do the things you have been wanting to do. Be the person you've been dying to become. Look at Elon Musk and Warren Buffet, for example, he had done many things in his life. He tried and experimented on a lot of things.
Sometimes when you start out trying to do new things, it may feel overwhelming and discouraging, but I promise you that it’ll get better once it becomes a habit. Remember nothing comes very easily.
Look at me, I started a blog as a way to inspire others to become financially independent and live their dreams by understanding money. So far, it's been an exciting and wonderful journey.
We all go through a growing and learning phase. You will never know everything, and that’s okay. Whether you want to learn to invest, build your wealth, or live the lifestyle you want, you still have to learn the process to get there. Growth and development are something all human beings go through.
If you want to learn how to invest in yourself, you have to start from square one, which is learning and experimenting. You are the decision-maker and the one that picks yourself back up because no one else is going to tell you or do it for you.
Ask yourself: “What kind of person do I want to be?”
Even if it’s just a baby step, start one step at a time and you’ll eventually get there. It's not a race whoever gets there first, it's a marathon where you go at your own pace.
It may be intimidating and uncomfortable when you are just starting out to do something new because it's something unknown to you. Trust me, I felt that way before. I was looking for ways to invest in myself and was EXTREMELY AFRAID of literally everything I saw online.
I even feel that way even today because I’m learning something new every day. But remember there is always a process to everything. Enjoy and love the process because you will become a mastermind of it eventually.
Everyone has his/her own journey, so don’t compare yourself. You want to be you and write your own story. Do it at your own pace and you’ll get to your destination. You live on your own timeline and no one else.
Here are some of the things you can start doing to become a better version of yourself:
- Exercising 3-4 days a week
- Writing in your journal daily
- Read and explore new ideas
- Eating healthy
- Learn a new skill
- Be kind to others
It's hard in the beginning when you are changing your habits. But by practicing and continuing to be consistent about the things you do, it will become a daily routine.
Start writing down your goals because this will hold you accountable for what you need to accomplish. You can even write it on a big piece of paper and stick it on a wall to encourage you every day.
Also, you should expand your knowledge and skills by social networking. By reaching out to those who have been in your shoes will help you tremendously. They have more experience and knowledge so they could give you a helping hand (this is the part I’m afraid of the most because I’m such an introvert).
Investing in yourself can become quite tiring, but also rewarding in the long run. Let's be realistic here. We can be lazy at times. When we tried to invest in ourselves, we come up with excuses that prevent us from doing anything like: “I don't have time” “People will make fun of me for even trying” “I give up because it's not working” and the list goes on and on.
This negative mindset holds us back from doing these things. The more we dwell on it, the more it's going to slow you down and prevent you from starting. You must learn to change your mindsets for success.
Focus on Yourself Instead of Others
The world can be very judgmental. Everyone expects you to be this and that, but you are you. Don’t ever forget that!
I know it is so hard to gain the confidence you want because as humans, we like validation. It takes practice to get the confidence you want.
However, when you cancel all the negative vibes around you, you have a clearer path on what you want to do.
Back then, I was afraid of being judged. I didn’t like the negative thoughts and words from people. It blew my self-esteem away. But you know what?
I decided to try to ignore and walk away from all that negativity. I decided to be me and do things my way. I focus a lot more on myself than anyone else. I focus on my education, skills, health, and wellness.
People tend to tell us many things, but in the end, you are the one that calls the shot. Don't let anyone try to take your identity away from you or be who you are not.
You should create your story by choosing what path you should take. It's your life anyway not theirs. When I started experimenting on things and doing things I love, I saw that I was getting somewhere.
My attitude and perspective in life started to shift, and I started to value myself more. I saw myself in a better light. I was ready for a change and to start my own journey.
Always Continue to Learn
You can NEVER stop learning. There are so many things you can learn in this world when you have the internet these days. You can learn to invest, build your wealth, become an influencer, or create a side business.
Many people who continue to learn and solve problems are successful people. The world is constantly changing so we have to learn to adapt to new changes. With new changes come with many problems as you can see, and that is why we have to be on the lookout for new discoveries.
If you learn and find solutions for people, they will come to you for help. Knowledge is a powerful asset that you can have, and no one can take that away from you. When you have the knowledge, people are willing to pay to get help in any way.
Knowledge and time are your two greatest assets so learn while you are still young.
Look at the pandemic for example. It was a huge problem in 2020. Masks were selling like crazy because they were considered the solution.
We need SOLUTIONS because it makes our lives better and easier. By learning and adapting to the new world can we change our perspective and find innovative solutions.
If you continue to learn, you can become an expert to help thousands of people. That's how powerful you can be if you put in the work.
Find Yourself a Mentor
Did you know having someone who had experienced it all helped you to become even MORE SUCCESSFUL! Most successful people had mentors. You can NEVER do anything alone you need people to help you get there.
Look at the most successful people Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, etc. they all had mentors. To be like them find yourself a mentor who you want to learn from.
The journey is a lot harder if you go at it alone.
It is always better to have someone or a group of people who have been where you are before help guide your way out of the challenges that come up. Finding a mentor can make all the difference in developing yourself into an even more effective person!
Your knowledge can be limited so learning and growing with a mentor can actually help you improve your skills and self-development. Who doesn't want a multimillionaire being a mentor right?
Think about what you can gain:
- Enhance your skills
- Invaluable knowledge
- Improve communication skill
- Professional network
Be Responsible for Your Life
If there is something you want in life, you have to be the action taker. If you want to live a life full of freedom, get out of the rate race, or become a millionaire, you have to work for it. Nothing comes for free! Let me say this clearly. Your parents, teachers, boss, friends, or partners are NOT responsible for your life.
Whatever you want or do with your life has nothing to do with them. Whatever position you are in is 99% due to your decision and work. You have the power to change your life, but it is up to you to decide.
Whether you were born poor or rich, you can change that by taking action. Stop blaming others for your problems. Life is a roller coaster where you face many obstacles along the way. There is no right or wrong answer. You just need to take that leap of faith.
You have one life to live! So give it your all because no one can stop you. You are your greatest asset.
Take Action Today
Some people usually don’t know when to start investing in themselves. What I always say is START TODAY! Time is everything just like how the saying goes “Time is Money.”
If you just keep waiting for the right opportunity to come, you are just wasting time because the right opportunity is when you start taking action. So start investing in yourself!
Start building great habits and invest in yourself as soon as possible.
For me, I started to learn new skills, network with people, and invest my money to build my wealth. I wanted a better lifestyle for myself and for my family by taking a chance.
My goal today and months back hasn’t changed which is to become financially free and help people who are struggling like me.
Even if you may have self-doubts or no confidence in yourself, I believe a person is capable of a lot of things. It’s the mindset that stops one from achieving one’s goals so change that mindset.
I know there are a lot of people out there who want to get results overnight, but that’s not possible. Without the hard work, the process, and the struggle, it wouldn't be a success anyway.
The feeling of accomplishing your goals and saying “I FINALLY DID IT!!” is something a lot of people cherished a lot. Don't you just love the taste of success?
If I told you there was a movie that has no plot and no problem at all, would you watch it? Probably not, right? Who wants to watch a movie that has no development?
I believe a life with no regrets sounds amazing, don’t you think?
Now go out there and take action on your dreams and goals you have. Take a chance and live your life to the fullest, so that you won't regret it later!
She started her blog, The Money Dreamer, when she realized the 9-5 job was not the lifestyle she wanted anymore. After designing for a while, she wanted a more meaningful life, which was freedom, so she decided to venture out. She took action so that she can live her dream life and decided to help people to live theirs by helping them how to save, budget, and invest.
