10 Stress-Busting Tasks You Shouldn’t Hesitate to Delegate

Everyone has something they have no issue spending money on if it means they won't have to do it themself. In an online discussion, people shared what they believe is absolutely worth paying someone else to do.

Hiring professional movers can take a lot of the stress out of moving and ensure that your belongings make it from your old place to your new one without any damage. “Movers. After a certain age, beer and food aren't enough to help move everything from one home to another,” one man said.

2. Electrical Work

“Major electrical work,” one woman commented. “As an electrician, I've seen the result of people who thought they could do it themselves. Ended up costing them double,” an electrician replied. While it might be tempting to try to save some money by doing electrical work yourself, the potential risks and dangers outweigh any potential savings.

3. Fixing Garage Door

Fixing a garage door can be tricky and potentially dangerous, especially when dealing with the springs. “Replacing the spring on the garage door,” one woman added. “That can be lethal if you don't know what you're doing,” someone replied.

4. Cutting Down Trees

Cutting down large trees isn't something that most people should attempt on their own, especially if they don't have the proper equipment or training. “Cutting down trees. I'm too old to climb up a huge oak tree with a chainsaw,” one man said.

5. Cleaning Services

“If you live with someone else, a housecleaner. Unless one of you loves cleaning so much it's like a hobby, it will reduce stress and friction among those you live with,” one man remarked. Hiring a housecleaner can take a lot of the pressure off, leaving you more time and energy to focus on other things.

6. Pest Control

Leave it to professionals with the knowledge and expertise to deal with pest control safely and effectively. “Pest control and exterminator service,” one person said. “I want nothing to do with ants, mice, bees/hornets/wasps whatsoever. Worth every penny I pay monthly for the service,” someone replied.

7. Landscaping

Hiring someone to take care of your garden and yard can save you a lot of time and keep your yard clean. “Landscaping. My god, I hate pulling weeds and trimming an overgrown garden. With my allergies and sensitive skin, it's even more of a disaster,” one man said.

8. Getting a Haircut

“Haircut. Tried once when covid began. And yeah, it's better if someone else does it,” someone commented. Unless you're a trained hairdresser, it's easy to make mistakes and end up with an awful haircut.

9. Painting

Painting can be messy and time-consuming. If you don't have the proper tools or experience, it can look amateur. “Painting. Painting your room sucks. Laying down sheets so it doesn't drip on the floor, taping edges and moldings, and worst of all, painting the ceiling,” someone remarked.

10. Plumbing

Plumbing can be tricky. A minor issue could turn into a much bigger problem if you don't have the knowledge or experience of how to fix it. “Plumbing. Even the smallest inconveniences can be an absolute mess to deal with.”
